Full course description
Focuses upon the nature of Christian faith and formation in the Wesleyan tradition and how such promotes fidelity to Christ in adherents’ lives. Students will enter into disciplined reflection based on the theological foundations of this tradition and the Wesleyan understanding of formative Christian dispositions and virtues. Consonant and dissonant aspects of other Christian traditions will be covered as well as the challenges of applying this Christian tradition in a pluralistic culture. Students will experience the process of spiritual formation within the Wesleyan tradition through participation in an actual Wesleyan covenant group. This course will assist students in their development of a systematic theology of Christian formation and discipleship processes. This course fulfills the Wesleyan Understanding of the Sacraments and Worship requirement for the GMC.
