The Foundations of Preaching is an introductory course on the planning, construction, and delivery of sermons that give witness of the Gospel of Jesus Christ as revealed in the whole biblical canon. Emphasis is placed upon the formation of the preacher as a witness to the grace of God, a step-by-step development of sermons faithful to the biblical text, the process of crafting sermons appropriate to the student’s ministry context, and the development of skill for sermon delivery. Learners will learn to give and receive constructive feedback on sermon content, structure, and delivery. This course fulfills the Basics of Preaching requirement for the GMC.
